Farewell, Yasou, Auf Wiedersehen, Zai Jian, Adios!

Tomorrow (or early Saturday), I’ll be moving to Toronto to start graduate school. There, I’ll be allowed a less than generous 2GB a month internet usage. So, naturally, tumblr will be the first thing to go. I think I can live without endless pictures of cute girls, sappy love poems, and screen grabs from popular movies and TV shows.

With my time on tumblr, I realize I’ve also posted absolutely nothing of any real substance. So, for my final post (at least until I move back to Amuuurika), I’d like to make it up to all of you by directing you to a commencement speech given in 2005 by one of my favorite people ever, David Foster Wallace. Hopefully it will make up for all the trash I typically post.

Also, if you text me after tomorrow, I probably won’t get it until I return to the country in December for Christmas break. I have a google voice number (731 577-9842) I can text from within wifi hotspots and will try to use facebook chat more often. Ok. Bye now!

Has anyone written about Jason Fulford’s Mushroom Collector in relation to Sartre’s Nausea? Or Roe Ethridge’s Le Luxe in relation to authors like Thomas Pynchon or David Foster Wallace? I’d like someone much smarter than me to write about those things. Also, I’m still making pictures.
